DIY - Kerzen Wimpelkette - Washi Tape Candle Bunting

photo: Wohnwasabi

Today we're all glued to the telly, watching Will & Kate say "Yes"... After the big wedding event, the two newlyweds will be off to enjoy their lovely honeymoon. And we will dash into our happy weekend! For all of you, who are in the spirit of crafting, I put together a little DIY tutorial, being inspired by a packaging post from lovely Ez of Creature Comfort. It's about my beloved Washi tape. Don't you love this tape? It's such a multitalent. You can use it for Scrapbooking, Greeting Cards, Packaging or as a pretty bunting for candles, as in my current project. Are you up to this? Then let's tape!

Luftblasen rausstreichen. Fertig ist das hübsche Kerzenkleid!

Dress up your candle in 5 easy steps:

  1. Place a long strip of the first Washi tape on a piece of baking paper. I first measured the diameter of my candle and used this as a length for the tape.
  2. Place a second tape accordingly and make sure it overlaps the first layer. Third tape just the same... Then trim the baking paper on the long sides, so that there's only a small border left and cut off the rough ends on the sides.
  3. Now fold the paper accordion like.
  4. Hold it firmly and cut out a reversed V-shape on one end.
  5. Unfold the paper, even it a litte and then you're ready to tape it to your candle. Simply smooth out any air bubbles... And your candle is ready to shine!

British Country Home Flair

Hallo zusammen!

Hello everyone! Today I invite you to my little dreamhouse at the british coast. When I recently discovered the website of 1st Option with all the beautiful houses and locations, it felt like house heaven to me. I had so much fun putting together some of my favorite rooms and photos for you. So let's have a look, shall we?
I fell in love with this kitchen at first sight. I adore the open cupboards, the long wooden table and how much light there is...

Almost as important as a nice big kitchen is a creative workspace for me. This one is sooo spacious and the three windows provide wonderful daylight for working on little craft projects and even take some pictures of the things I make...

After cooking a delicious meal in my dream kitchen and maybe some sewing in that wonderful study, it feels good to relax in the living room. Since we're in Britain, it's a must to have a fireplace. Oh how I love sitting in a comfy chair, reading a book while listing to the crackling fire...

Also nichts wie ab ins Bett.

Well, the warmth of the fire got me tired... So I get ready for bed. Quickly wash my face and brush my teeths in this nice bathroom with its wonderful decor and panels, all in white.

Now Good Night! I will definitely have sweet dreams in such a lovely bedroom. Isn't this inhouse window wall unique? And the pink wallpaper with its vintage pattern give the room a warm and country home flair.

After a good nights rest, there's nothing more inspiring than waking up to the sound of the ocean. So let's put on our wellies for a nice long walk at the beach. Maybe we'll find some lovely stones or even a little treasure from a sunken ship? We could also try out the kayjaks, yay...!

Our little expedition got me hungry... So let's have breakfast with freshly baked bread, eggs, bacon and lots of tea. Then I'll invite you to a shopping trip to my nearest town. We can take my bike... Oh, wait a minute, first we have to fix the tires... Let's do this together and we're off to enjoy the day!

Well, I hope you enjoyed your stay at "my" british home at the seaside...It was a pleasure having you as my guests! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Royal Wedding Preparations...

image via Graham & Brown

It's Wedding Week friends! This Friday William and Kate will finally say Yes. Are you excited as I am? My Mum got me infected with the Royal virus. She watches every Royal event and is an expert in this field. So on the 29th, we will put on our pretty dresses, open the champagne and watch the big event. Are you celebrating as well?

images: 1, 2 +3

The most kept secret is still Kate's wedding dress. I read some rumors that she is designing the dress herself... Can't believe this! With all the preparations going on, the excitement of walking down the aisle with millions of people watching her, I cannot image her having the nerv to turn on the sewing machine...I guess she will be waring some designer dream dress, looking fabulous! And for all of us, who are not so lucky to wear the Cinderella Slippers, we can still dine like a princess with these Royal Cupcakes!

Catch of the Day - Angel Lifestyle

via Angel Lifestyle

In anticipation regarding the upcoming royal wedding of Kate and William, I thought I’d share some of my Brit-Love with you today. I’ve been in love with all things British, since discovering the work of Jane Austen quite some time ago. Last year I fulfilled my dream to travel through Devon and Cornwall, which was wonderful. I could’ve set up my new home in Dartmouth right away. The picture book town at the river Dart is one of my favourite places in Devon, so picturesque and inspiring and well worth a visit!

For my new English cottage I’d buy lots of home décor from Angel Lifestyle. It’s one of my favourite shops at the moment. Their linen collection is inspired by traditional British seaside holidays but with a contemporary touch that brings them right up-to-date for today’s lifestyles. Check out their sweet online shop!

via Angel Lifestyle

When browsing through all the goodies you’ll get in the mood for country home style and a feeling, how Kirstin Hodgson, the owner and creative force behind Angel lives in the beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire. For my next holiday in the land of afternoon tea and scones, I will put her store in the market town, Easingwold on my list of sights to see and maybe meet my Prince Charming…

Balkon Feeling mit Living at Home

photo:me

The cover calling from the latest issue of Living at Home "Get out now!", I took literally today and started my balcony season. In addition to planting the first flowers, my table and chairs were set up and I welcomed the warm spring sun. Flipping through the new issue of LAH was so much fun. In particular, the home deco series of letters and monograms appealed to me. The chipboard boxes with colorful artwork I will definitely try sometime soon. And the fabulous monogram stamps from Avie Art quickly hopped on my last minute Easter wishlist...

The beautiful styling tips with lovely photos in bright rainbow colours brought me even more into spring spirit.

Was das wohl heißt?

What are your favourite colours this year? I'm in love with all things in nude colours and shades of pink. Maybe I start living my girly side right now, since I was a more boyish girl when I was little...

Mama ist die Beste! Mother’s Day Sweets!

Nur noch 19 Tage bis zum Muttertag! Only 19 more days until Mother's Day!

via DerGugl

Make your Mum happy this Mother’s Day by sending her some love with these adorable little cakes. Aren’t those amazing? The creative head behind the sweet cake idea is Chalwa Heigl, who started her German company “DerGugl” in 2009, when missing tasty and trendy cakes in local coffeshops. Together with her team she bakes every cake by hand and from the heart. You can choose from 9 different delicious flavours, such as eggnog-lemon, coffee-cardamon, chocolate or some specialties like rose petals and physalis for Mother’s Day.

Just can either order 1, 4 or 9 little cakes in their onlineshop and have them sent in a nice box directly to you Mum’s door. And if you are planning a special event or maybe for a wedding, why not rent the “gugl-mobil”, an adorable pink patisserie truck that offers these petit cakes to your guests in a very special way. What is there not to love about this cute and tasty idea?

photo: me

Hello everyone and a sweet Monday to you all!
I’m back from my little weekend trip, feeling fresh and happy. I visited Lüneburg, a lovely town close to Hamburg and the place where I went to university quite a long time ago...
Many things have changed since then, but it felt really nice being back and wandering through the tiny little streets, lined with historic houses, colourful sights and cute cafés.

photos:me

I want to give you a little tour of some of the shops I spotted and liked.
First I discovered Buksbom, an adorable little flower shop, which also sells handmade cushions and home accessories. You can also buy Painting The Past there, a wonderful wall colour collection I love.

photo:me
via painting the past

After a snack and enjoying the first spring sunshine on a bench, we continued our tour and came across “House No. 8”, where you can buy scandi chic home décor and handpicked gifts. I bought some wrapping paper ( I can never have enough pretty paper stuff) from a small paper factory based in Southern Germany called Papeteria.

My last find was the “Schatzkammer”, a store that celebrated its opening on the day we visited. They design a very unique souvenir line with images from Lüneburg and related themes. I fell in love with this adorable calendar showing the image of an old trading house. You can change the date by pulling on the red ribbons that are printed with day, month and date. Isn’t this a great idea?

Although it was just short visit, I enjoyed it very much and will try to do things like that more often this year. Next on my travel list are Brussels, Antwerpen and Amsterdam…
Now, I’m wishing you wonderful Monday! Have a good start into this week, stay happy and inspired! xo Tesca

seen at la boomeria

Hi lovelies! I'm just stopping by for a short note to let you all know, that I'm thinking of you and will be back with lots of fresh inspiration next week. This week has been loaded with tons of stuff at work, so that I couldn't devote the time to my sweet blog. Tomorrow I'm taking a weekend trip to Nothern Germany and a lovely little boutique hotel in the "Lüneburger Heide". Hopefully this will refill my batteries... I missed you all and the blogosphere during this week a lot and look forward to being back soon. Have a great weekend! xo Tesca

Hallo liebe Wohnwasabi Fans!

images: flowers, jam labels, gift-tags, placecards

Hey lovely readers, the weekend is near and I thought, we could all use some inspiration for our easter or mother's day gifts. So I put together a little collection of crafty projects you might enjoy... If you are having guests this weekend, why not welcome them with these adorable place cards I spotted over at the Nonpareil Magazine. They are made from spools and I think they look just gorgeous. Or you could bottle up the first fresh fruits of the season by making some delicious jam and pep up the jars with the cute printable labels from How about Orange. And for your mother's day gifts, try out these lovely candy coloured gifts tags from Good Gravy and use their free printable. I might try out the jam labels this Sunday. Tonight I've been invited to the concert of Jamiroquai (Yeaah!) and tomorrow I've got a meeting at work, but hope to get out in the afternoon to treat myself to some saturday spa delight...What are you up to this weekend?

Last but not least, I want to welcome all the new readers to my blog and thank everybody for your company here this week. Happy Weekend!

Hallo liebe Wohnwasabi Fans!
